Weitz Projects That Shaped 2025
The Weitz Company has been a national leader in the construction industry for more than 170 years. Our willingness to innovate, steadfast commitment to safety, passion to growing communities, and ability to foster industry experts have all been pivotal in building our legacy. As we wrap up our 170th year in the industry, we want to take a moment to look back on all the projects that shaped the year.
Aviation Expertise
Weitz’s Aviation team continues to grow, expanding their expertise all throughout the country. The airport construction industry continues to rapidly evolve thanks to new technology, increased demand, and a desire to modernize the passenger experience. This year alone, six projects hit a major milestone.
- Des Moines International Airport New Terminal & Parking Garage: The $450 million terminal reached its halfway point this summer, and the parking garage was completed in July.
- Orlando International Airport – Terminal C Multi-Modal Connector Pedestrian Bridge & Rental Car Lobby: The 450-foot-long pedestrian bridge was completed in October, and the lobby is in its final stages and expected to complete in Spring 2026.
- Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport Terminal 4 Baggage Handling System Upgrades: Weitz is leading the $300 million modernization project that is anticipated for completion in 2029.
- Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport In-Line Checked Baggage Improvements: This $30 million project began in September 2025 and has an anticipated completion date of Winter 2027.
- Sioux Falls Regional Airport Concourse Expansion: This $70 million major terminal expansion broke ground in September 2025 and has an anticipated completion date of Spring 2027.
- Mile High Game Day: This Aviation retail project at Denver International Airport, in the center core of Concourse B, will be a premier sports retail provider, the first of its kind at the airport. The project began in August 2025, is anticipated to be complete this winter.
Mission Critical Expertise
The Weitz Company’s Mission Critical team has been working hard to shape the future of data center construction. In 2025, our team built 131 megawatts of data center infrastructure, and 1,160 megawatts are under construction. 2025 Mission Critical projects include:
- QTS, a 420-MW data center campus in Cedar Rapids, Iowa: The QTS Cedar Rapids Data Center Campus represents the largest economic development project in the city’s history and will support the construction of seven data center buildings.
- A 240-MW confidential data center campus in West Des Moines, Iowa: The greenfield development will span 964,000 square feet across five buildings and is projected to be completed by late 2026.
- A 240-MW confidential data center campus in Cumming, Iowa: The campus consists was completed and turned over in September.
- A 50-MW confidential data center campus in Sterling, Virginia: This project started in September 2025 and is scheduled to be completed Fall 2026.
- A 48-MW confidential data center campus in Boydton, Virginia: This is a 245,000SF, 48MW, single story PEMB data center. Construction began in July 2025 and will be completed Spring 2027.
- Vantage, Project Lighthouse, a 202MW data center in Port Washington, Wisconsin: WI12 will be a 202 MW AI data center and new GT-1 Design for Vantage. The project will have one 10 MW Spine area and multiple 32 MW data modules.
- AZP3 – a 36-MW, two-story data center in Phoenix, Arizona: Construction began on this 287,000 square foot project in June 2024 and is scheduled for construction to end in Spring 2026.
- Our data center electrical partner, EPI Power, worked alongside our Weitz Mission Critical team on four large scale data center projects this year. Marking multiple milestones in our growing partnership.
Industrial Expertise
For over 75 years, The Weitz Company has been a trusted name among Industrial general contractors, delivering operational and processing facilities. In 2025, Weitz’s Industrial team completed two large-scale Industrial projects, is set to complete two more in 2026, and has won multiple additional projects for the future.
- EH2 HYPRPlant: This hydrogen generation unit & related infrastructure that will feed a commercial-scale eFuels production site, which will be the largest in the world when production begins.
- Lindsay Corporation: This $39 million, 55,600-square-foot galvanizing facility will replace its current operation, which has served the industry since 1955. The project is scheduled to be completed in Summer2026.
- Confidential Industrial Client: This $7.8 million design-build initiative will span across 65,000 square feet within an existing warehouse in Aurora, Colorado.
- Confidential Manufacturing Client: Weitz is constructing a new 300,000-square-foot processing and manufacturing facility in Lima, Ohio which is projected to be completed Spring 2026.
- DSM Next Gen: The DSM Petfood Premix facility in Tonganoxie, Kansas is the most advanced premix facility in North America, set to exceed current pet food production standards and operate on 100% renewable electricity. This $27 million project reached substantial completion in March 2025.
Commercial Expertise
From large, complex projects to small tenant improvements, The Weitz Company’s Commercial team consistently delivers results that exceed customer expectations. Our continued success on a national scale is reflected in projects won across the United States, ranging from high-end Hospitality to Senior Living communities and more.
- 3850 Blake Street: This $89 million, 16-story multi-family community broke ground in June 2025 and is projected to be completed Spring 2027.
- Shell Point Island Commons: Construction began on this $76 million, 4-story, 152,000-square-foot retirement community in February 2025 and is projected to be completed by Spring2027.
- Shell Point Tower One: Construction began on this 14-story Independent Living tower in July of 2024 and is projected to be completed in Spring 2027.
- Westside Student Life Complex: This $30 million project included partial demolition of the existing high school, 13,000 square feet of interior renovations, and a 67,000 square-foot Life Complex addition, which was completed in November 2025.
- Gretna Community Complex: The $35 million facility that will house a new City Hall, Library, and Community Complex broke ground in April 2025 and is scheduled to be complete in Winter 2026.
- Southeast Community College Sandhills Global Technology Center: Weitz was selected as the building partner for the new IT Technology Facility on Southeast Community College’s (SCC) main campus. This $31.6 million, 67,000 square-foot project was completed in January 2025.
- SDPBC Pine Grove Elementary: The School District of Palm Beach County Pine Grove Elementary School Modernization project, valued at $21.7 million, was completed in July 2025 on the site of the existing school.
- Peoria Fleet Maintenance Facility: The Weitz Company is serving as the general contractor for the City of Peoria’s new Municipal Fleet Maintenance Facility, a $26 million project, anticipated to be completed in 2026.
- Colorado School of Mines Residence Hall VII: Residence Hall VII is a $150 million, 800-bed student housing project for the University. This project celebrated the topping out of the new residence hall in April 2025 and is scheduled to be completed by the Summer 2026.
- University of Oklahoma McCasland Hall: The University of Oklahoma’s new residence halls will provide 2,100 beds for incoming freshmen. Phase I North Building was completed and occupied in Summer 2025.
- SGA 205′ Flagpole: Weitz constructed a 205-foot flagpole, becoming the tallest in Arizona and among the tallest in the U.S., continuing the legacy of the iconic 90-foot pole Weitz built two decades ago. This project was completed in November 2025.
- The Breakers Renovations, Mediterranean Courtyard & Beach Club: Weitz continues its 35+ year legacy at The Breakers Palm Beach with two major renovation projects in 2025 including a 26,600-square-foot transformation of the Mediterranean Courtyard and a 12,000-square-foot redesign of the Beach Club restaurant.
- Four Seasons Telluride: Weitz broke ground in September 2025 on the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Telluride in Colorado marking the first new luxury hotel and residential development in the area in over 15 years. This project is scheduled to be completed and open in 2028.
Federal – Contrack Watts
- Shore to Ship Utilities System, Bahrain: The scope of work of this design-bid-build project required construction of shore-to-ship based utility systems on NSA-1 & 2 in Manama, Bahrain and was completed early 2025.
- Route Tang Road Project: This design-bid-build emergency repair project replaced a section of Tang Road located along the waterfront at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor, WA and was completed in 2025.
- FY19 MCON P907 Transit Protection System (TPS) Fueling and Maintenance Facility: This project consists of two major components – a vessel maintenance facility and a marine diesel fueling system. This project is expected to reach substantial completion by January 2026 and full project completion by Spring 2026.
- Repair DDG Homeport Piers & Wharf: In April 2025, Contrack Watts’ Northwest office was awarded a $27 million design-bid-build project to repair and replace fender piles at the Naval Station Everett in Everett, WA.
- P859 Aircraft Carrier Substation Electrical Upgrades: Construction on this design-bid-build electrical substation upgrade for the CVN 78 aircraft carrier began in October 2025 and is scheduled for completion in July 2030.
All of these projects require countless hours from our teams on the ground and groups across our company who support projects through material procurement, preconstruction planning, and more. Our in-house supply chain team, Spire Solutions, LLC., contributed their expertise to countless projects nationwide in 2025, ensuring our teams met key milestones.
