Des Moines International Airport Parking Garage Expansion
Des Moines, IATo meet the growing needs of the Des Moines International Airport, The Weitz Company completed the erection of a new parking garage that is connected to the existing parking facility. Construction began in the Spring of 2023 and was completed in July 2025.
The garage includes over 1,122 new parking stalls and is connected to the New Terminal (built by Joint Venture Weitz/Turner) through a pedestrian walkway. The garage’s total capacity increased by 63%, going from 1,800 to over 2,900 stalls. The ramp is a cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete structure. The ramp adjacent to the new garage remained open and fully operational during construction.
Among the many upgrades, the garage features a red light/green light system above each stall to quickly identify available spaces and an upgraded real-time stall count board at the entrance showing available spots by level.
