Snacks Plant Work 

The Weitz Company is actively laying the groundwork for expanding production at a confidential snack manufacturing facility in Goodyear, Arizona. This project marks the first phase of a multi-phase conversion transforming an existing warehouse space into a fully operational tortilla chip production line, along with select plant-wide upgrades to support expanded manufacturing capabilities. 

Phase one of the Snacks Plant Work is focused on preparing the facility for the new production line by relocating an existing high-capacity racking system. The system, which currently stores approximately 500 pallets of seasoning and packaging materials, will be dismantled and reinstalled on the opposite side of the plant within the shipping area. This strategic relocation optimizes material flow, frees up critical floor space for new equipment installation, and maintains operational continuity throughout construction. 

By strategically repositioning this critical infrastructure, the project team can maintain ongoing operations while setting the stage for future construction phases. The successful completion of this initial phase not only enables the next stage of the facility’s expansion but also establishes the foundation for a long-term partnership and continued collaboration.  

Creekstone Farms Premium Beef Distribution Center and Wastewater Treatment Facility 

In January 2020, The Weitz Company completed construction of a new 43,000 SF boxed beef automated distribution center adjacent to existing operations. The facility was designed for 100% selectivity with capacity for 55,600 boxes of beef, incorporating a high-density, cubed footprint with a 65-foot clear height to maximize vertical storage and minimize the roofline—an energy-efficient solution that reduces heat load and operational costs. 

Creekstone doubled its production capabilities and engaged The Weitz Company to complete capital improvements including new site access, bone grind operations, and cattle pen expansion. The Weitz Company also completed a welfare addition which included the cafeteria and locker rooms, a storm water management expansion, and improvements to other critical areas in the beef processing facility. The Master Service Agreement (MSA) allowed Creekstone and The Weitz Company to fast-track multiple projects simultaneously through an integrated team approach. 

Following completion of the various facility upgrades and doubling production capacity, The Weitz Company was selected to expand and upgrade the Creekstone Wastewater Treatment plant in September 2021. The project focused on removing animal byproducts from water, aligning with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) requirements. The wastewater treatment project was carefully phased and sequenced to minimize operational disruptions, ensuring uninterrupted production. This strategic approach emphasized operational efficiency and seamless integration, enhancing productivity and environmental compliance for Creekstone Farms Premium Beef, LLC. 

SFO Superbay Hangar – San Francisco International Airport

Originally built in 1969, the SFO Superbay Hangar is one of four hangars in the United States that can fully house four 747 aircraft. The Superbay Hangar is a fully operational, 24/7 facility used by both American Airlines and United-Continental Airlines for essential aircraft maintenance and safety inspections. This hangar features four maintenance bays, six levels of office space, and a centrally located workshop. 

A comprehensive fire suppression system protects all areas of the building. The sixth floor, along with the exterior pumphouse, contains all the critical equipment supporting this system. In 2019, Weitz executed a complete replacement of the fire suppression system at the Superbay Hangar, providing end-to-end delivery that included programming, design, construction, and commissioning. The result was a modern, code-compliant fire protection system tailored to the unique operational demands of the facility. This project underscores Weitz’s expertise in executing high-performance infrastructure upgrades and reinforces our reputation as a trusted partner for both new construction and complex system replacement projects. 

PHX Sky Train Maintenance & Storage Facility – Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport

The PHX Sky Train Maintenance and Storage Facility was originally built by Weitz in 2012. After ten years of operation, Weitz successfully expanded the PHX Sky Train system in 2022 by adding 2.3 miles of guideway, a 30,000 SF expansion to the Maintenance and Storage Facility, and additional yard track. It now includes new maintenance bays, a workshop, technician office space, full compressed air systems, improved air conditioning, and a water-efficient train wash that reuses 70% of its water. Delivered under a design-build contract, the project was completed on schedule and optimized for long-term performance and efficiency. 

This project enhances the airport’s automated train operations and increases overall system capacity to meet growing transit demands.  

Peoria Fleet Maintenance – City of Peoria

The City of Peoria Fleet Maintenance Facility was completed in June 2026 as a new 46,631 SF complex within the Municipal Operations Center. Designed to support 15 to 20 mechanics, the facility includes 25 service bays, office and training space, tire and parts storage, and employee amenities that enhance operational efficiency and support the city’s growing fleet maintenance needs.

During preconstruction and design, the team provided scheduling, constructability reviews, cost estimating, and value engineering services to help create a functional, efficient, and cost-effective facility. The completed project delivers a modern maintenance environment designed to improve fleet operations while supporting the City’s long-term service objectives.
