The Weitz Company Welcomes Shekinah Fountain to Expand Company’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Efforts

The Weitz Company is proud to announce Shekinah Fountain as the company’s Senior Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Associate. In this role, Shekinah will spearhead expanding the company’s DEI efforts both internally and externally in line with the company’s commitment to lead with equity.  

Shekinah’s position will focus on expanding The Weitz Company’s diverse supplier network and promoting an inclusive environment across all offices and jobsites. She will work alongside the company’s DEI council to expand on current work surrounding DEI, set goals, quantify success, and help diverse business enterprises (DBEs) win with Weitz. She will work to grow the company’s DEI initiatives through sustainable change that lifts up each and every employee, trade partner, and business partner.  

I firmly believe the construction industry has an extraordinary opportunity to lead the way with equity. Weitz understands the importance of DEI across our business and industry, and I am excited to build on their DEI efforts by delivering meaningful and impact measures across the company.

Shekinah has already hit the ground running with her recent work in assisting with the launch of Weitz University, a program designed to expand contract opportunities and limit barriers for key underrepresented businesses across the country by providing the knowledge and resources to help these businesses grow and win with Weitz.  

Shekinah brings extensive DEI experience to her new role. For more than 15 years, she has used her talents and resources to improve the lives of others in both the private and public sectors. She recently led a global firm’s social equity plan efforts reaching record DEI engagement numbers.  

Shekinah’s addition to The Weitz Company marks a monumental milestone in the growth of the company’s DEI efforts.
