Leonard W. Martling

President & CEO

Len Martling came to The Weitz Company in 1981 and offers more than forty years in the construction industry. During his career he has provided operational leadership on some of the company’s most challenging projects. In addition, before becoming President and CEO in 2010, Len led several of The Weitz Company’s regional offices, as well as serving six years as company’s Chief Operations Officer. He continues to lead the company, driving innovation and efficiency through technology and client-focused business and construction practices.

Kevin McClain

Chief Operating Officer

Kevin McClain joined The Weitz Company in 1999 and has served customers in numerous project management, operations and executive leadership roles. After running the federal construction side of the business (Watts Constructors) for several years, he now oversees overall operations of The Weitz Company. Kevin is a construction engineer and is active in many industry association groups, including the Construction Industry Institute and the Associated General Contractors of America.

Kevin Grittner

Leader, Industrial

Kevin assumed the leadership role within Weitz Industrial at the end of 2016. In his three years with Weitz, Kevin has asserted himself as a solutions-oriented leader with an innovative and decisive management style. Possessing a strong reputation as a collaborative partner with self-performing teams along with subcontractors and vendors, Kevin commits himself to adhering to the owner’s schedule and quality requirements, which has consistently led to the successful completion of projects on time and within budget.

Jim Wenzel

Leader, Heavy Industrial

After joining the company in 2015 to manage construction operations for our Heavy Industrial division, Jim Wenzel now serves as the leader of this business segment by imparting 40-plus years of industry experience into our company. Jim’s expertise stems from managing projects of varying sizes (from $5 million to more than $1 billion) both domestically and internationally. He has considerable experience in EPC and the construction of numerous process plants, refineries and chemical plants. Having performed nearly every role possible on a project, his leadership skills and extensive industry knowledge offers clients a superior option for managing projects.

Jim Wells Jim Wells

Executive Vice President, Business Development and Marketing

Jim Wells joined The Weitz Company in 2006. He has served in various project management, operations and leadership roles during his time at the company, and now oversees business development nationally. A licensed Professional Engineer and licensed General Contractor, Jim is an Aerospace Engineering graduate of the University of Florida and studied business management at Duke University.

Karmyn BabcockKarmyn Babcock

Vice President, Operational Excellence

Karmyn Babcock oversees The Weitz Company’s process and technology infrastructures, improving means and methods across the organization. Since joining Weitz in 1997, Karmyn has been involved in every facet of the company’s IT strategy, successfully merging the disciplines of engineering and technology. She leads the company’s implementation of lean practices, and is responsible for driving innovation and continuous improvements across the organization. Karmyn is a construction engineer with an advanced degree in civil engineering and construction management.

Ryan LambRyan Lamb

Vice President and General Counsel

Ryan Lamb serves as General Counsel for The Weitz Company, and is the organization’s chief legal officer responsible for guiding all legal matters. He is licensed to practice law in Iowa and Florida. In addition to his work experience in construction, administrative and labor law, Ryan worked as a civil engineer before joining Weitz. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Iowa (civil engineering). Outside of his role at Weitz, Ryan is a Captain in the Iowa Army National Guard where he serves as a JAG on the 233rd Trial Defense Team.

Jeremy MarronJeremy Marron

Chief Financial Officer

Jeremy Marron is a Certified Public Accountant and joined Weitz in 2005. He has nearly 20 years of financial and accounting experience in the public and private sectors as well as the construction industry. His expertise within The Weitz Company includes accounting, reporting, financing, banking, taxation, insurance and mergers and acquisitions.

David Strutt

Chief Risk Officer

David Strutt joined The Weitz Company in 1986 and supervises and manages the company’s risk identification, mitigation, management and transfer programs, including insurance programs. He is involved with the American, State of Iowa and Polk County Bar Associations. David also has extensive experience in insurance and construction.
