Kansas City International Airport New Terminal
Kansas City, MOThe Weitz Company was part of the design-build joint venture team that delivered the new $1.5 billion single terminal at Kansas City International Airport in Kansas City, Mo. Built on the footprint of the decommissioned Terminal A, the facility now features 39 gates across two concourses with future expansion capability up to 50 gates. The project also includes a 6,300-space parking structure, a 15,000-square-foot central utility plant, and extensive landside and airside improvements.
At just over 1 million square feet, the terminal stands as the largest single infrastructure project in Kansas City’s history. Its completion provides a significant and lasting economic impact for the region through job creation, opportunities for local and small businesses, and a world-class travel experience for passengers. The new terminal officially opened in early 2023, replacing the airport’s aging B and C terminals built in 1972.
Delivered via a public-private partnership, the project earned LEED Gold certification, making Kansas City International Airport’s New Terminal the largest airport facility in the United States to achieve this distinction.
