The Weitz Company is proud to announce that it has once again been named the Best General Contractor in Des Moines by the Des Moines Business Record’s “Best of Des Moines” awards, marking the company’s 29th consecutive year receiving the recognition. 

For nearly three decades, this award has represented more than an accomplishment. It reflects the trust Weitz has built with clients, partners, employees, and the communities it serves throughout Central Iowa. 

Founded in Des Moines in 1855, Weitz has helped shape the region for more than 170 years. Today, the company continues that legacy through projects that support the growth and evolving needs of the community. 

“Being recognized by the Des Moines community for 29 consecutive years is something we never take for granted,” said Vince Ward, Business Development Director for The Weitz Company. “It reflects the trust our clients place in our people and the relationships we’ve built over generations.” 

Building What Matters to Central Iowa 

Weitz continues to contribute to projects that are helping Central Iowa grow, including the Des Moines International Airport New Terminal. As part of a joint venture with Turner Construction, Weitz is helping deliver a new approximately 360,000-square-foot terminal designed to modernize the passenger experience and support the region’s continued growth. 

Weitz also recently completed the Des Moines International Airport Parking Garage Expansion, adding more than 1,100 parking stalls and increasing the airport’s parking capacity by 63%. 

Beyond major infrastructure, Weitz is building spaces that directly serve our communities. Its recent work for ChildServe transformed a former healthcare clinic into a new 24,549-square-foot facility that brings medical childcare, autism services, therapy, and other programs together under one roof. 

These projects represent more than the buildings themselves. They create places where people can travel, receive care, work, and connect.
