In 1970, Weitz was the original contractor on the corn processing plant and has had a presence on-site ever since. In the early 1980s, Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) shared its idea of building an alcohol facility with Weitz. Team meetings were held to discuss the design-build project with concepts getting sketched on a piece of scratch paper. For over 34 years, Weitz has been a partner with ADM, completing more than 75 design-build projects. The projects on which Weitz has collaborated with ADM generally involve new construction, renovation, equipment installation and routine plant maintenance services. A fast-track approach gets used with these projects, which enables the team to begin work on foundations long before building design is complete.
