West Palm Beach, FL – The Weitz Company’s Florida office has worked 4 Million Man-Hours without a lost time injury since October 2004. This success is attributed to the Weitz Safety Program, which is built on the foundation of personal commitment and empowerment of all employees. At Weitz, it is everyone’s responsibility to prevent injuries and all employees live by our “Lead with Safety” philosophy. This philosophy is the value that we place on safety illustrated by our words and actions, regardless of other job pressures.

“This team’s commitment to Lead with Safety has never wavered. I am proud of the Florida office’s achievement because it exemplifies our company’s culture and recognition that safety is and will always be our top priority” said Shane Bauer, Chief Operating Officer.

Weitz invests a great deal of time, energy and resources to maintain a safety culture that permeates our business operations. Key components of our safety program include: extensive training, corporate safety manual and materials, tool box talks, daily safety exercises, and Behavior Based Safety.

For every project, our personnel are trained and Behavior Based Safety (BBS) observations are performed weekly. BBS is a process that continually focuses people’s attention and actions on daily safe behaviors for both themselves and those working around them. “Our employees are motivated to personally contribute to providing a safe workspace and making sure everyone goes home safely to their families at the end of every day,” said Dennis Gallagher, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Weitz Company’s Florida office.

All Weitz operations staff are required to be OSHA 30-hour safety certified and have a current certification in CPR, First Aid and AED.
