Sioux Falls Regional Airport Concourse Expansion Celebrates Topping Out Milestone

(Sioux Falls, SD) – The Sioux Falls Regional Airport Concourse Expansion has reached an exciting milestone, as The Weitz Company joined project partners and community leaders to celebrate the topping out of the new concourse. 

This event brought together team members from Weitz, Journey Construction, local officials, and trade partners in recognition of the progress made on this transformative project. The celebration captured the energy onsite, bringing the team together to recognize the skill, teamwork, and commitment that continue to move the project forward. 

This $70 million expansion, which broke ground in September 2025, is set to redefine the passenger experience at Sioux Falls Regional Airport. The 70,000 square foot concourse will introduce five new gates, expanded hold rooms, and modern passenger boarding bridges, providing the infrastructure needed to support continued growth in air travel throughout the region. 

Beyond increased capacity, the project focuses on creating a more comfortable, accessible, and welcoming environment for travelers. Planned enhancements include larger restrooms, family restrooms with an adult changing station, a thoughtfully designed mother’s room, and an upgraded concessions layout that improves flow and expands options for passengers. 

Reaching this milestone is a testament to the strong partnership between project teams, designers, and trade partners, as well as the hardworking crews bringing the vision to life each day. Together, they are shaping a modern travel experience that will serve the Sioux Falls community for years to come. 

With completion anticipated in March 2027, momentum continues as the team advances toward delivering a space that reflects both innovation and community pride.
