Midtown Crossing

Omaha, NE

This project offers more than three years worth of stories about turning a dilapidated urban area in Midtown Omaha into a thriving destination for the residents of the city. Midtown Crossing consists of six, eight-story buildings; one, four-story movie theater; one parking structure; and site improvement and landscaping.

In all, the development has seven buildings totaling one million square feet that encompass 297 luxury condominium units; 268 luxury apartments; furnished corporate extended stay residences; a 31,000-square-foot Prairie Life executive health club; upscale, five-screen movie theater; urban grocery market; 220,000 square feet of retail space for restaurants and shops; parking for more than 3,000 vehicles; and green roofs on two buildings.

Building the WeitzWay

We utilized model based layout via robotic total station that ensured accuracy with 45,000-plus inserts/embeds/blockouts that were put in place using the Trimble product. This technology created a time savings of 200-plus hours during layout, which was a 70 percent savings compared to traditional methods.

“The success of Midtown Crossing has been due to the hard work, dedication, problem-solving and proactive approach demonstrated by the entire Weitz team. Your high-degree of organization, discipline, flexibility and responsiveness was paramount to the success of this complex, urban development.”
