Weitz Places Final Structural Beam Signed by The Heritage at Brentwood Residents to Top Out CCRC

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Using a tower crane, The Weitz Company hoisted a commemorative beam signed by future residents of The Heritage at Brentwood on June 14 to top out the new buildings being added to the Continuing Care Retirement Community.

Residents, both current and future, have been curious about the additions and upgrades being made at The Heritage at Brentwood since the current phase of construction opened in October 2017. To support their intrigue and enthusiasm, Weitz created viewing stations around the jobsite for people to witness the progress and has provided access to monthly drone photographs.

“It all provides a greater connection between the residents and their community,” said The Weitz Company Executive Vice President Chris Harrison.

The additional interaction with residents has softened the disruptions of building in and around an occupied facility. Weitz’s project team is tying into four different parts of the existing building while operating on a tight jobsite.

“The challenge has been to construct five distinct projects on the backside of a fully functional community,” said Jeff Louk, project construction manager and assistant project development manager for LCS Development, LLC. “Logistics has been a primary focus and continues to evolve on a daily basis. The existing residents and future residents are excited and looking forward to the new amenities.”

Located 20 minutes from downtown Nashville, The Heritage at Brentwood was originally built in 2008. This is Phase IV of the development – overseen by senior living operator Life Care Services and LCS Development – which is adding 97 independent living apartment-style homes; 11 assisted living residences; more space in the dining room to expand its options; a Healthy Life Center with a state-of-the-art heated indoor pool; expanded fitness rooms and new salon; and a new auditorium with 300-plus seating. In total, five new buildings are being added to the existing community to accommodate the expanded amenities and new residences.

Weitz is a joint venture partner on this phase with local construction firm Hannah Constructors. Completion is scheduled for April 2019.
