Weitz Celebrates Women in Construction Week 2026

March 6, 2026  /  Blog,

As we close out Women in Construction (WIC) Week 2026, we are grateful for the energy, engagement, and meaningful conversations shared across our teams. Established by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), WIC Week is an annual opportunity to spotlight the expertise, leadership, and impact women bring to the construction industry, and to reaffirm our commitment to building a more inclusive future.

Throughout the week, our business units hosted guest speakers, organized team lunches, highlighted the women across our jobsites and offices, and created space for open dialogue about growth and opportunity. These events were not just celebrations; they were reminders that creating opportunity in construction requires daily action from all of us, teammates, mentors, and leaders alike.

While Women in Construction Week provides a dedicated moment of recognition, our commitment extends year-round. From enhanced parental leave policies to women-focused safety vests and continued investment in professional development programs such as NAWIC chapters and industry initiatives, we are intentional about cultivating an environment where women feel welcomed, supported, and equipped to thrive. (Learn more about our broader commitment to people and culture on our Careers page.)

The construction industry continues to face a workforce gap. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, women make up roughly 11% of the construction workforce, highlighting both the opportunity and responsibility we share to expand access and representation. Inclusive jobsites drive stronger safety performance, improve retention, and strengthen our talent pipeline — outcomes that benefit every project and every team member.

As we reflect on the week, we encourage everyone to carry this momentum forward:

  • Ensure PPE, facilities, and jobsite conditions support all employees
  • Seek partnerships with women-owned trade partners
  • Model inclusive behavior and speak up when you see exclusion or disrespect

Thank you to every Weitz team member who planned, participated in, and embraced Women in Construction Week 2026. And thank you, today and every day, to the women across our organization whose talent, dedication, and leadership help us continue to Build a Better Way.

We look forward to celebrating again during Women in Construction Week 2027.
