Two Weitz Projects Honored as Finalists for AZRE Red Awards
AZRE Magazine held its annual Real Estate & Development Awards on March 8, naming its 11 winners from a group of 35 finalists that completed projects in 2017 characterizing the qualities of the RED Awards.
The Weitz Company did not leave the event an award winner but the national general contractor did have two projects honored as finalists – the Bob & Renee Parsons Leadership Center for Girls and Women at Camp South Mountain in Phoenix and The Hacienda at the River in Tucson, Ariz.
A finalist in the recreation category, the Bob & Renee Parsons Leadership Center for Girls and Women at Camp South Mountain is a redeveloped camp for the Girl Scouts Arizona Cactus-Pine Council. The 14.5-acre site has approximately 38,000 square feet of new and renovated buildings, including 15, 10-bed sleeping cabins; three activity cabins; a demonstration kitchen and kitchen garden; two newly renovated pools; and the new Parsons Leadership Center that offers spaces for large and small meetings and gatherings – among other amenities.
The Hacienda at the River is a Continuing Care Retirement Community that was under consideration for a RED Award in the healthcare category. This state-of-the-art community pays homage to the area’s rich farming and ranching heritage. It features four, single-story Hacienda Homes (each accommodating 15-18 residents in private assisted living and memory care units) with a rehab and long-term care facility called The Springs. A third component of The Hacienda at the River — The Stables — makes this CCRC the first of its kind to offer on-site equine therapy for residents and family members suffering from with Dementia, Alzheimer’s and depression.
