Internships at Weitz: From Classrooms to Construction Sites 

Building strong relationships is just as important to The Weitz Company as laying strong foundations on our construction sites. That’s why our interns work alongside seasoned professionals, gaining experience that goes far beyond the classroom. Rotations across multiple disciplines give candidates the breadth of experience needed to grow into future leaders. 

Phil Bowerman, a 2025 intern at The Weitz Company, reflected on his experience, noting his internship stood apart from others, “Many of my peers ended up making coffee and pushing paper during their internships. At Weitz, I was a real member of the project team with my own responsibilities.”

That kind of support is exactly what Haylee Heim experienced during her time as a Weitz intern, “Everybody was very welcoming and willing to help me learn and grow. They did not shy away from answering any questions I had or guiding me to learn as much as I could. They seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me. I continued to grow as an intern because of the responsibilities and the variety of experiences they allowed me to have.” 

It’s not uncommon for interns to return year after year, eager to work with new teams, expand their skills, and discover where they want their careers to go. 

Luke Reese spent one spring and five summers interning with The Weitz Company before joining full-time in 2021. He began his career as a Project Engineer and has since advanced to the role of Assistant Project Manager. Luke attributes his growth to the supportive culture at Weitz, where team members are always ready to lend a hand.
