In the News: Yampa Valley Regional Airport Prepares for Growth
Steamboat Pilot & Today recently highlighted Yampa Valley Regional Airport’s plans for a major terminal expansion designed to elevate the passenger experience and support continued air service growth in the Steamboat Springs area. The current expansion design is expected to be completed by early 2026, with construction scheduled to begin in May 2026 and continue through March 2028. Now moving into the final design phase, the project will add 57,000 square feet, bringing the total terminal size to 128,000 square feet. This expansion will also include four new gates with jet bridges, a new full-service restaurant, and an expanded outbound baggage carousel. The nearly two-year construction effort will be carefully staged to allow the airport to remain fully operational throughout the project.
The Weitz Company is proud to serve as the construction manager for this transformative project, which builds on Yampa Valley Regional Airport’s role as a vital transportation hub for Northwest Colorado. With record passenger counts and expanded airline service, including year-round flights from Southwest Airlines, this modernization marks an exciting step toward improving efficiency, comfort, and connectivity for travelers across the region.
