DES MOINES, IOWA – One of the construction industry’s top publications has selected The Weitz Company Director of Industrial and General Manager Kevin Grittner as a Top Young Professional for 2019.
Engineering News-Record announced the list of honorees in its 11-state Midwest region on Monday, naming Grittner 1-of-20 recipients who will now be in consideration for ENR’s national Top 20 Under 40 program that will be announced in the middle of 2019.
“This is a recognition Kevin has earned and deserves,” said Kevin McClain, president and CEO of The Weitz Company. “After a successful start in field operations, we promoted Kevin into a much larger leadership role that has allowed our company to capitalize on his full skill set. He’s done a tremendous job strengthening our Industrial segment and has been an even greater advocate for our industry.”
Six months after joining The Weitz Company in February 2014, Grittner was named a project executive to oversee the construction and procurement work Weitz self-performs on agricultural and manufacturing projects. Two years later in October 2016, Grittner was promoted to lead the entire Industrial division at Weitz, which put engineering work under his management to cover all EPC services. The 17-year industry veteran has fostered collaborative environments with employees, clients, trade partners and vendors that emphasize increasing value and delivering projects safely, on time and within budget.
“I am honored to be recognized by ENR alongside my industry peers,” said Grittner, a licensed professional engineer. “I’ve worked with so many outstanding people in my career who have helped me grow professionally and personally to make this award possible.”
This is the second consecutive year The Weitz Company has had at least one employee named a top young professional by Engineering News-Record. Weitz General Manager Kimberly Davids and Weitz Project Executive Greg Martin were recognized in December 2017 on the Southwest and Midwest region lists, respectively. Davids went on to be honored as one of the national Top 20 Under 40 in March 2018.
