Weitz Constructing City of Surprise Public Works Operations Facility

Serving as design-builder, The Weitz Company is in the early stages of construction on the City of Surprise Public Works Operations Facility in Surprise, Arizona.

The 44,000-square-foot building will enhance the city’s vehicle maintenance division’s ability to provide safe and reliable vehicles for staff, including first responders. It will include 14 bays for the maintenance and repair of the light- and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment to meet industry standards. The facility, which will be a climate-controlled indoor space, will also have a vehicle wash facility, space for parking and circulation, a training room, break room and locker room.

When complete in February 2020, the public works department will consolidate its operations into this one building. This will aid efficiencies for city-wide fleets responsible for everything from street maintenance and traffic signals to trash/recycling and engineering development services.

Working with The Weitz Company on the design-build team are WSM Architects, Gannett Fleming, Pearson Engineering and Norris Design.
