The Weitz Company Breaks Ground on The Estates Neighborhood Expansion at Sagewood

February 21, 2017  /  News Blog,

The Weitz Company proudly announces the groundbreaking of The Estates Neighborhood Expansion at Sagewood, a luxury senior living community in northeast Phoenix, Ariz. The expansion is one of many construction projects the company has built for Sagewood since Weitz built the original community in 2010.

The Estates neighborhood expansion project will include the construction of casitas and villas for independent living residents; a new assisted living building; and a multi-purpose event facility. All components of the expansion will be open by the first quarter of 2018.

Sagewood hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking on February 15 for its residents and project team.

Twenty-four luxury casitas, both single and duplex-style, will feature open floor plans with vaulted ceilings. Depending on the style of the casita, these homes may also include a covered patio with outdoor cooking areas; a private attached guest casita with kitchenette and bath for visitors; and a two-car garage with attached golf cart storage.

The villa homes are designed as a small community with eight, one-level villas in a two-story building. The building will have a large central lobby, community room and gathering spaces for friends and neighbors.

The new two-story, 45,000-square-foot assisted living building is designed to connect with the Acacia Health Center, which Weitz built in 2009 and completed an expansion of in 2016. The new 16,000-square-foot multi-purpose event facility will have a performing arts area and meeting rooms so residents can enjoy concerts, lectures and special events. All buildings in the Estates Neighborhood Expansion were designed to offer scenic views of the mountains and the Sonoran Desert.

Weitz looks forward to another year of building with the Sagewood team and working with Sagewood residents!
