Denver International Airport & Weitz: A 30 Year Partnership of Innovation, Expertise, and Community
The Weitz Company has proudly maintained a strong partnership with Denver International Airport since it was built in 1995. As Weitz celebrates 170 years in the construction business, with over 70 years in the Denver construction market, the company has had the immense honor of contributing to several buildings that have transformed the Greater Denver area. The company’s work at the Denver International Airport (DEN) is a prime example of Weitz’s longevity in the Denver market and their expansive experience in aviation construction around the country.
Construction at DEN requires navigating a complex environment with distinct challenges and opportunities. As one of the largest and busiest airports in the United States, DEN projects demand meticulous planning and coordination to minimize disruptions to daily airport operations and traveler experience. Weitz’s Aviation experts are well versed in these intricates, and has displayed this expertise in recent projects at the Kansas City International Airport New Single Terminal and the Honolulu CONRAC.
Weitz’s extensive portfolio at DEN includes several critical projects, such as the central utility plant that provides heating, cooling, and water services for the airport’s terminal, concourses, hotel, and office buildings. The company also built the spine tunnels and modernized DEN’s original baggage handling system to enhance operational efficiency, greatly enhancing the overall passenger experience at that time.
Most recently, OTG DEN Ventures, LLC selected Weitz to deliver an innovative food and beverage concept on Concourse B. This project features the Sunset Loop Bar & Grill, a grab-and-go Market, and a renovated Starbucks Coffee. The project culminated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on December 16, celebrating the collaboration between Weitz, Denver International Airport, and OTG.
Weitz remains committed to contributing to DEN’s ongoing growth and success in the years ahead. They understand how landmark infrastructure projects like these are essential to keeping the communities we live in thriving for generations to come and are at the core of the company’s commitment to building a better way.
