DES MOINES, Iowa – One of the construction industry’s top publications has selected two Weitz employees — General Manager Kimberly Davids and Senior Manager of Operational Excellence Greg Martin — as Top Young Professionals for 2018.

Engineering News-Record announced the 20 Top Young Professionals in each of its Southwest and Midwest regions over the course of two weeks during December. Earning this recognition automatically makes Davids and Martin eligible for ENR’s national Top 20 Under 40 program that will be announced in the second half of 2018.

“This is a well-deserved honor for Kim and Greg. They are both significant contributors to our company and have critical roles in helping lead Weitz into the future,” said Kevin McClain, president and chief executive officer of The Weitz Company.

“Kim has exhibited a willingness to support — and the ability to overcome — challenging situations, and she has all the leadership qualities necessary to positively impact the long-term success of our office in Phoenix,” McClain said. “Greg’s understanding of technology and project management software tools is first-rate for our industry, and his expertise will continue to be leveraged to drive operational success and efficiencies in the field.”

Davids, an 18-year industry veteran who has been with Weitz since 2015, and Martin, who has spent 11-of-his-13 years in construction with Weitz, were selected based upon three criteria ENR uses for all its regional honorees: Industry experience and education; career and industry leadership; and community service/ involvement.

Beyond her role leading Weitz’s Southwest Business Unit in Phoenix, Davids is engaged with a number of industry organizations and regularly volunteers within the Greater Phoenix community. From an industry perspective, she is most involved with the Arizona Builders Alliance in which she has served on multiple committees, volunteers as a training instructor and is currently the vice chair of the Leadership Development Forum Alumni Board. Community-wise, Davids’ two biggest contributions are to Support Sky Harbor Coalition’s neighborhood cleanup events and the Adopt-a-Senior program at Beatitudes Campus.

Martin leverages his passion for technology and Lean processes to help implement operational disciplines across The Weitz Company, which includes proactively developing plans to optimize construction flow and reduce project risk. His background with virtual design and construction and proficiency with software tools such as Procore, Asta Power Project, Bluebeam and Autodesk BIM 360 has enabled numerous opportunities to support industry events as an educational speaker and thought leader.
