This new district facility consolidates the offices of the U.S. Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Bureau of Immigration and Citizenship Services. The structure surrounds a large central courtyard that allows DHS employees to enjoy fresh air without exiting and re-entering the federal facility’s security checkpoints. Designed and constructed to achieve LEED Gold, 80 percent of the construction waste (400 tons) was recycled.
