Hy-Vee/Weitz Construction

The Hy-Vee/Weitz relationship began in 1995 when Hy-Vee hired Weitz and another contractor to each build an identical Hy-Vee store. Hy-Vee used the construction as a competition to determine which firm would be selected as Hy-Vee’s exclusive partner to build future stores. Weitz was the winner hands-down. The result was the formation of Hy-Vee/Weitz Construction LLC, a joint venture owned 50/50 by Hy-Vee and Weitz.

Hy-Vee/Weitz is a full service general contractor, construction manager and design/build contractor specializing in the following facilities: dry and cold storage; warehouse and distribution; retail; remodeling; and food processing. Hy-Vee/Weitz has completed more than six million square feet of retail, warehouse, and food processing projects, including new and remodeled space. Hy-Vee/Weitz is dedicated to building Hy-Vee stores better, faster, cheaper. Since 1995 this dedicated partnership has realized more than $21.5 million in savings returned directly to Hy-Vee.
